Bashkir Separate Cavalry Division was organized by Leon Trotsky’s order in April of 1919 in Saransk on the base of the Bashkir Corps created by Ahmet Zeki Validov in January of 1919. In autumn of 1919, this Division took part in the defense of Petrograd from the attacks by the troops of Nikolai Yudenich.
